Complete BS people saying they can't afford a healthy lifestyle. Eating healthy is FAR cheaper then eating junk food. It is simply not easier.
On a $20 budget I would be able to pick up enough fresh fruit and vegetables to create about 3/4 of all my daily meals for a week.
For $10 I'd be able to pick up enough lean meat to get me through the week (Could have fresh cut turkey, chicken, tuna etc)
Another $20 I'd be able to buy a ton of grains/nuts to have as snacks and to compliment the other stuff I bought. Some juices, breads etc. also.
Really for less then $50 ($$AUD) I'd be able to buy enough fresh, healthy food to last me for a week. I wouldn't be skimping on any meals either.
Compare that $50 to eating fast food:
$5 every morning for breakfast ($35 a week)
$5 every day for lunch ($35 a week)
$5 every day for dinner ($35 a week)
Throw ontop of that maybe a soda/soft drink a day ($15 a week) snacks like chips/pretzels or candy bars ($15 a week)
That alone adds up to around $140 a week. Compare that to the $50 and you can see that it's a fuck load cheaper to be eating fresh and healthy. I personally don't do it, though I probably should start to do so (I feel like shit at the moment eating all this fast food). I think a popular misconception a lot of people have is that they think they need to be drinking protein shakes and taking costly vitamin supplements every day to actually be "healthy" It's complete bullshit and unless, like Synthetic, you're do intense physical conditioning there is no reason to take it as all the fruit/veg/nuts/meats you eat are more then plenty.
@ Rai: Be creative with that food you get. My favourite breakfast is mixing oats (not boiled, just raw) with dried fruit mixes, some nuts (almonds, cashews) and then pouring it over a bowl of vanilla yogurt. Put some sliced banana or mashed strawberries on top and eat that bad boy. So good for you (Y). A lot of people would think this sort of thing is heaps expensive, but if you've bought the items in bulk previously it's very very cheap.
Better to be dead then red.
