Re: Good times in the army
Did I mention that we did all this in -25 degrees celsius (-13F)?
Though you shouldn't over estimate the Finnish military service just because of this lol. I was in one of the toughest trainings (only special forces are tougher, the recon training is about the same level as our para troopers). Other places are a fucking joke
@King, we have almost no lethal accidents in training over here. The safety regulations are quite strict (mostly).

Not being a dick, but are there a lot of Australian conflicts?
Currently we have about 1,600 troops in Afghan and (until recently) I think we had about 2,000 troops in Iraq.
It doesn't sound like much, but put it into context. America supports a defence force of 3million people, Australia maintains around 80,000. Since America has 47,000 troops deployed in Afghan that = around 1.5% of their defence force. Australia likewise has 2% of our defence force in Afghan too. Considering it's not even our war I think it's a pretty substantial troop contribution.
But yeah we actually do get involved in quite a lot of "peace keeping". An actual list is right here:

It seems we're always in East Timor. Those cunts can't look after themselves, there's always rioting and people fucking around with the government so we keep deploying to keep them under wraps.

It's called global warming when winter is hot and there are droughts, it's called climate change when it's cold in summer and there's a lot of rain.

All the branches of special training are tougher (such as divers and Parachute Troops)

Naw, para troopers are about the same. They hardly even count as specials.

American paratroopers are still considered a normal soldier, you do have units that are solely used for paratroops, but to become airborne all you must do is go to a thing a 2-3 week course and get certified for jumping.
Same thing with air assualt, which would be deployment by helicopter.
Toughest US military routes are EOD, Ranger, Special Forces, and Intel. 99% of the other jobs are mainly based off going to a tech school for a few months.

Re: Good times in the army
I know I know, but I meant that they "hardly count as specials" cus they aren't as tough as the others.
